Florida Shrimp Pie

Here’s a classic coastal comfort dish: Florida Shrimp Pie 🦐🥧 — a savory seafood pie loaded with sweet shrimp, creamy filling, fresh herbs, and a golden, flaky crust. It’s a Southern-meets-seaside specialty that’s perfect for brunch, lunch, or a light dinner.

Florida Shrimp Pie

Ingredients:

For the Pie Filling:

1 pre-made or homemade 9-inch pie crust (unbaked)

1 tbsp butter or olive oil

½ cup onion, finely chopped

½ cup red bell pepper, finely chopped

1 clove garlic, minced

1 lb Florida shrimp, peeled, deveined & chopped

2 eggs

¾ cup half-and-half or whole milk

½ cup shredded sharp cheddar or Swiss cheese

1 tbsp fresh parsley or chives, chopped

½ tsp Old Bay or Cajun seasoning (optional for spice)

Salt & pepper, to taste

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

Preheat Oven:

Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Place pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.

Cook the Veggies & Shrimp:

In a skillet, heat butter over medium heat. Sauté onions and bell peppers until soft (about 5 minutes).

Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in chopped shrimp and cook just until pink (2–3 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Make the Filling:

In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, salt, pepper, and seasoning.

Stir in the cooked shrimp mixture, cheese, and herbs.

Assemble & Bake:

Pour the filling into the pie crust. Smooth the top with a spoon.

Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden.

Cool & Serve:

Let cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with extra herbs or a lemon wedge, if desired.

📝 Tips & Variations:

Add-ins: Try a handful of corn kernels, diced tomato, or sautéed spinach.

No pie crust? Make it crustless, like a frittata!

Make ahead: Can be baked and chilled; reheat gently in the oven.
